Management TeamDonna Houseman, Executive DirectorDonna opened Sun Oak originally in 1997 and was transferred to a larger community in 1998. In 2008, she returned to Sun Oak as the Executive Director. Donna has an administrative background in hospitals. She is a California transplant from Jefferson City, Missouri. When she came to California she decided to change careers with a direction towards senior care; a passion she has had for years. Donna started out as an Assistant Administrator, continued her education and became a certified RCFE administrator. Donna lives with her husband of 42 years and has two sons and one daughter. Her children followed her to California and now live in the Sacramento area, along with her grandchildren. Donna herself has lived for the past 16 years only five blocks from Sun Oak. Kaye Key, AL Care CoordinatorKaye has worked serving the elderly for over 38 years in the SNF, Hospital, Rehabilitation, Hospice & Assisted Living and Memory Care environment. She started her career in Eldercare in Missouri and then continued in California. Her job duties have been assisting residents with their personal care needs, concerns, and problem solving. Kaye has also evaluated needs before admission, two weeks after move in and every six months or when there is a change in health condition. She is always flexible and available when needed by family and residents. Kaye was at Sun Oak from the beginning when the doors were opened and later transferred to a larger community, returning to Sun Oak in 2008. Kaye was born in Australia; she loves America and raised her five children here. She loves the residents at Sun Oak; you see it in her eyes every time she is interacting with one of our residents. Glenda Hoskins, Dining Service DirectorGlenda has worked in the food service industry for over 20 years; she started out as a dietary aid, worked herself up to cook and then Dining Service Director. Glenda has worked in two different communities and she feels that by far Sun Oak is the best with its feeling of home and family. Sun Oak is just the right size and affords her the time to get to know and love our residents. Glenda received her Dietary Services Supervisor certificate, along with her Safe Serve certificate, which helps her to serve our residents with all their dietary needs. Glenda has watched Sun Oak change into the wonderful home it is and looks forward to many more exciting changes. One thing that never changes is her love for the residents and having the time to get to know little details about their lives. Glenda has lived close to Sun Oak since 1955 and is happy that by working at Sun Oak she gets to work in her own community. Courtney Danielson, Activities Assistant/Business Office ManagerDave Clark, Building Services ManagerDave grew up and spent most of his life in Northern California. Dave is a graduate of Sacramento State University. He worked for Aquarium in the Bay located in San Francisco for eight years as a Naturalist, Diver & Maintenance. Dave is one of the people behind the scenes making sure everything is set up and ready to go to support all the walkers. By working at Sun Oak, he is able to travel nine times a year all over the United States to be involved in this important work. When he returns to Sun Oak, he is all about the residents and what he can to make their lives better. You can see how compassionate he is every day as he sees to their needs. Dave has one daughter, Kaitlin, who he adores. He is a licensed scuba diver. Dave’s passion is helping find the cure for breast cancer. Carrin Jankowski, Community Relations DirectorCarrin recently joined the Sun Oak family. She has experience as a Community Relations Director with a larger corporation. She is excited to work for a smaller more family oriented company. Her education and background is in marketing and interior design. She owned and operated a retail interior design shop. Transitioned into residential real estate sales and “staging” homes for sale. She decided to do something a bit more meaningful and went back to school. Her path led her to Gerontology. The “Activity Director” program confirmed that she knew she wanted to work with the growing senior population. Her experience with sales and gerontology makes this the perfect career for her. Carrin has been married to her high school sweetheart for 28 years – Dale. He is a Fire Captain for Eldorado Hills Fire Department. They made their home in the beautiful Foothills of El Dorado County. Dale and Carrin have two grown sons. She is hoping for grandchildren somewhere down the road! Jenette Mariano, MC CoordinatorJenette joined Sun Oak Assisted Living in 2009. She followed in her father’s footsteps and practiced Optometry for seven years. In 1992, the family migrated to Southern California and was introduced to the Board & Care business for mentally ill patients. Jenette developed compassion for these patients and converted their home into a facility. She managed this stay-at-home business while taking care of her children for 12 years. When the family relocated to Northern California, Jenette worked with the elderly population as a Med Aide in two separate communities. She became fascinated and challenged. Jenette was encouraged to get a degree in Pharmacy Technology. She worked for a short time for Kaiser Hospital Pharmacy and got an offer to work at Sun Oak as the Care Coordinator in their Kingswood Court Memory Care Unit. Jenette is married and blessed with three children. Keith P. Reynolds, AL Activities DirectorIt took him four decades, but Keith finally found what he loved doing—working with seniors. Keith has worked in the senior industry for 18 months but has been here at Sun Oak since May, 2011. Keith earned his Bachelor of Communications Degree from California State University, Sacramento in 2004. He had previously spent 15 years working in the grocery business, usually in a supervisor or management capacity but he knew in his heart, that he wanted a career that fitted his passions and personality better. Keith lives near Elk Grove with his wife of 15 years, and their two boys, ten and five years-old respectively. Keith loves talking about presidents, listening to Elvis, has a brain full of useless trivia, enjoys baseball and writing, and loves creating fun and stimulating activities for the residents. Keith just adores the residents and knows they have overflowing wisdom to share with all. Nancy Wiest, KW Activities DirectorNancy had worked for Gold Country Media in their Sales and Marketing division from 2004-2010. The company then started with layoffs when she decided to enroll herself in school at MTI College. She pursued the medical field and studied the Medical Assistant program for one year; she then graduated in May, and finished her 30 day externship in July. She has always had a compassion and love working with the community; which is how she found Sun Oak Assisted Living. Her family had lived in Orlando, Florida for ten years. She had then worked for CNA Insurance in the Workers Compensation Division. Nancy has two wonderful daughters with two grandchildren.
